Court orders Turkish Airlines to pay compensation for lost cat

A Turkish court has ordered Turkish Airlines to pay compensation to the owners of a cat lost during a domestic flight, Birgün newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The cat, which was set to be flown without its owners from the eastern Gaziantep province to the western province of İzmir, was lost during a flight in 2019.

The parents of the cat's owner in Gaziantep had agreed for its transportation with a courtier company, which delivered the cat to Turkish Airlines for the owner to claim in İzmir, Birgün said.

The court ordered the airlines to pay 4,700 lira ($615) in non-pecuniary damages, it said.
