Turkish unemployment remains at highest since 2009
Turkey’s rate of unemployment was 14.7 percent in February, the highest level since March 2009, according to official data published on Wednesday.
The jobless rate was unchanged from January, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on its website. The data covered the three months to March with February being the focal month.
Non-agricultural unemployment rose to 16.9 percent from 16.8 percent the previous month. Youth unemployment fell to 26.1 percent from January’s 26.7 percent, the institute said.
Seasonally-adjusted unemployment climbed to 13.6 percent from 13.3 percent a month earlier.
