Two Turkish soldiers wounded on Idlib patrol

Two soldiers were wounded in an explosion during a patrol in Idlib province, the Russian Centre for Reconciliation said on Tuesday.

The soldiers were patrolling in a convoy near the village of Sfuhon, when a homemade explosive detonated on the road, Russian news agency Sputnik said, citing centre head Oleg Juravlyov. Two armoured vehicles were damaged in the attack.

Juravlyov blamed the attack on “terrorists”, saying that militant groups not under Turkey's control were continuing their efforts to destabilise the situation in Idlib province.

The Turkish Defence Ministry did not immediately comment on Tuesday's incident.

Turkish defence expert Metin Gürcan commented on the government's silence.
